Rev. David MacMillan

David was born on January 30, 1949, in Windsor, Nova Scotia to Myrtle and Kenneth MacMillan. He was the fourth of six children. At an early age, the family moved from P.E.I. to Ottawa, where his dad served as pastor in the Church of the Nazarene. Dave enjoyed his growing-up years in Ottawa. After high school, Dave attended Canadian Nazarene College in Winnipeg, where he studied for the ministry, and met Kathy Martin. They fell in love and were married in Abbotsford in 1971. After attending Seminary in Kansas City and serving a short time in Port Alberni, Dave felt sure of his call to full-time ministry and so moved to Ontario to pastor the Kolapore Church. This was a wonderful time of life for Dave and Kathy. The family was blessed with the addition of Corinne and Christopher. Moncton, NB came next, and then on to Markdale, Ont. This was when Dave lost his hearing, a major blow, but the Lord was there helping him to continue pastoring successfully. Many close and lasting friendships were made.

The Last move was to Rimbey in 2003. Dave and Kathy enjoyed the congregation immensely and pastored until poor health caused his medical leave and early retirement. Parkinson’s Disease was taking its toll on Dave, and on December 31st his body yielded to it.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, Rev. Ken and Myrtle MacMillan, and by his sister Roberta Handler, and brother Rev. Allan MacMillan. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy of 51 years; daughter Mary Corinne Harty (Landus), grandsons: Gavin, Donavin and Brodin; and dear son Christopher David. Also, one sister Barbara, and two brothers Rev. Claire MacMillan (Donna) and Bob MacMillan (Diane).

Dave was an awesome son, brother, husband, dad, papa, and friend. We know he has reunited with loved ones who have gone before. “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
