It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Ray Shafto announces his passing on March 26, 2023 at the age of 91. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce, who passed away November 8, 2014. His two sisters, Betty Ann Wheeler and Irma Delores Reichert have also passed away. Robert will be lovingly remembered by his children David (Carol) Shafto, Doris (Tom) Hildebrand, Raynette (Wayne) Hall, Sharon Shafto and Joy (Darcy) Strandberg, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Robert was an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene and pastored churches in Kamiah, Idaho, Randle, Washington, Richmond, B.C., Yreka, California and, Esquimalt, B.C.

Dad was very artistic. He enjoyed wood carving, resin casting, pen and ink drawings, and oil and water colour painting. As a family, we remember many wonderful summer camping vacations and Christmas holidays in Oregon at Grandpa and Grandma’s home. Dad was known for blowing kisses and giving us a beautiful smile at the end of each visit with him in the care home. He also loved snacking on his never-ending supply of cashews and he looked forward to us bringing him an icecap from Tim Horton’s!

The family wishes to thank our father's caregivers at Calvary Place Personal Care Home for their caring support and assistance given to Robert during his time there, as well as the special care given to him and our family in his last few days.

In lieu of flowers, those who so desire, may make a donation to Parkinson Canada or Siloam Mission.
