NYI Leaders Come Together

Eight Canadian NYI leaders trekked to Boston for the annual USA/Canada Leadership Conference (LC). This is an opportunity to connect and reconnect with our NYI leadership and particularly for two of our District Presidents (Marg Stahlbaum – Central and Brad Silliker – Atlantic) to get an introduction and orientation to their new roles in NYI. Typically LC is an opportunity to review and plan for Nazarene Youth Conference, however, this year Walt Mueller (Centre for Parent Youth Understanding) presented a couple of sessions on youth and today’s culture – challenging us to understand the challenges our youth and young adults face today in 2016.

Youth pastor, Lucas Prado, from our Rosewood Church (Central) says “This was my first NYI Leadership Conference with USA/CANADA region and guess what: I loved it!! From the historical snapshot presented by our Global Director Gary Hartke to the sessions with Walt Mueller, the conference was filled with great insights and passion to see the next generation of youth and young adults changed and equipped to make the difference! “

Other highlights included the announcement for NYC 2019 being hosted in Phoenix, Arizona as well as an opportunity for all Canadian District NYI Presidents and our Field Youth Coordinator, Helen Thiessen, to come together for a time of prayer, encouragement and planning.
